Course Aim
Upon completing this course, attendees will be equipped with a thorough understanding of foundational surgical principles tailored for both standard and intricate dentoalveolar procedures. They'll also be updated on vital topics in oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a particular emphasis on the management of odontogenic infections and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ). Furthermore, they'll gain the ability to identify and understand prevalent complications in oral & maxillofacial surgery and discern when it's appropriate to seek expertise from a specialist.
Course Description
Understanding the core principles and keeping abreast of advancements in oral surgery is beneficial for all general dentists, irrespective of their practice spectrum. Even if you conduct dentoalveolar procedures at your clinic or frequently redirect patients to community-based oral & maxillofacial surgeons, this course will provide a concise overview of crucial insights and common challenges. By participating, you'll be updated on essential surgical techniques, potential issues, and the latest methods to handle regularly encountered problems. The course will especially focus on dental extractions, infections, and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ).

About the Lecturer

Dr. Andrew Read-Fuller
- Andrew Read-Fuller, D.D.S., M.S., serves as the Clinical Assistant Professor and Residency Program Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Texas A&M School of Dentistry. His academic journey includes a certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery from UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2017, an M.D. degree in 2014 from UT Southwestern Medical School, and a Magna Cum Laude honor from the UCLA School of Dentistry in the joint D.D.S./M.S. program. Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Read-Fuller has garnered significant accolades. He received the Faculty Educator Development Award from A.A.O.M.S. in 2018 and the O.M.S. Foundation Research Support Grant in 2022. The latter recognized his innovative research in leveraging artificial intelligence for facial trauma management. His leadership roles span both national and international platforms in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Notably, he has contributed to the American Association of O.M.S. Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development, the Dallas County Dental Society Board of Directors, the O.M.S. Foundation Board, and as the North American Representative for the NexGen Committee of the International Association of O.M.S.Dr. Read-Fuller's professional interests encompass a wide range of oral and maxillofacial surgery areas, including facial trauma treatment, temporomandibular joint disease, dental implantology, peripheral nerve repair, and orthognathic surgery. On the webinar day, you can join by clicking the link in either the confirmation or reminder email. Though you can access the webinar 15 minutes early, it will commence at the scheduled time.

Refund Policy
Participants are eligible for a full tuition refund or credit for cancellations made at least two weeks before the course's commencement. Unfortunately, refunds or tuition credits won't be available after this period or for those who fail to attend.
Waitlist Policy
Should a CE course garner significant registrations leading to a waitlist, the CE office will approach individuals with pending payments. These individuals will need to settle their balances to confirm their spot. In case of non-payment, their reserved spot might be offered to another paying participant on the waitlist.
COVID-19 Guidelines
Tufts University prioritizes a secure campus environment. As of now, attendees of the Continuing Education/Lifelong Learning and Distance Education courses at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine don't need to undergo any screening. However, mask usage is advised in clinical areas and remains optional in classrooms.
Enrollment and Cancellation Procedures
The Office of Continuing Education has the discretion to limit registration when a course reaches its maximum capacity. It also retains the right to amend, cancel, or change any course content or faculty if deemed necessary. Should a course cancellation occur, participants will receive a full refund. Efforts will be made to notify participants promptly regarding any cancellations. However, the school is not accountable for any disruptions caused to the participants' travel plans.
In case of unforeseen circumstances like severe weather conditions, the Office of Continuing Education may either cancel or reschedule a course. Participants will be informed via the provided contact details about any such changes. If in doubt about a course's status, participants are encouraged to get in touch directly with our office on the course day.
