Course Insights

As dental practitioners, our comprehensive patient evaluations position us at the forefront of health detection. This bestows upon us a unique opportunity to detect conditions like sleep apnea and craniofacial pain early. By proactively screening for these conditions, we're not just enhancing oral health but overall wellness. This course aims to emphasize the global ramifications of conditions like Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and the prevalent craniofacial pain, illustrating the role dentists can play in the global healthcare scenario.

How can this course impact your practice?

This dental continuing education course on dental sleep medicine can make a significant impact on your dental practice. It will teach you how to identify the sources of craniofacial pain, give you the ability to evaluate the risks, signs and symptoms of sleep apnea and provide insight on how to bill for sleep apnea appliances. In addition, the hands-on workshops include TMJ and muscle palpation demonstrations for a thorough exam, how to take bite registration for sleep appliances and showing you exactly how to administer injections for relief of craniofacial pain.

What is the return on investment of a dental CE course like this?

The ROI on this course is astronomical! Depending on your patient demographic and the area of the country that you practice in, dental sleep medicine can be a huge opportunity in your practice. According to the National Sleep Foundation, Obstructive Sleep Apnea affects about 1 in 15 people in the United States (22 million people diagnosed with sleep apnea). It is estimated that up to 80% more Americans have gone undiagnosed. If you can detect very easy signs and symptoms of sleep apnea, you can potentially be saving days, or even years, of patients lives and making untapped revenue from these appliances. Oral sleep appliances have really come along way and can be done completely digitally through companies such as Panthera.
